Comments: Disable buyer comments in a Room

Remove the ability for your prospects or customers to leave comments in your rooms.

Turn off Comments in a Room to stop prospects and customers from posting comments on sections and threads. Use this setting when you share sensitive content or when you want all feedback to happen outside the Room. Turning off comments also stops new Comment on item email notifications because nobody can create new comments. If you use AI client Assist for clients, keep comments on - AI client Assist requires comments to stay enabled in the Room.

Prerequisites & Requirements

  • Plan: Only pro and enterprise can disabled comments from within a room.

  • Permissions: Room owner only can edit room permissions (Even not admins).

  • Technical Specs:

    • AI Client Assist requires the comments feature to stay enabled in the Room. Only the Room owner controls AI Client Assist settings in room level.

      • Admin can turn off account level.

    • Aligned can send comment email notifications as Comment on item when comments stay enabled.

How to disable comments in a Room

  1. Open the Room.

  2. Click the gear icon next to the Room title.

  3. Click Permissions.

  4. Find Enable comments in room.

  5. Toggle Enable comments in room Off.

What the Buyer sees

  • The buyer can’t add new comments in the Room.

  • The buyer can’t reply to existing threads.

How to re-enable comments in a Room

  1. Open the Room.

  2. Click the gear icon next to the Room title.

  3. Click Permissions.

  4. Toggle Enable comments in room On.

Troubleshooting & Error States

Q: “I can’t find the ‘Enable comments in room’ toggle.”

Answer: Click the gear icon next to the Room title, then click Permissions -> Turn of “Enable comments in room” toggle (Pro and enterprise plans only).

Q: “My prospect says they can’t comment.”

Answer: Toggle Enable comments in roomOn in Room Settings → Permissions.

Q: “Why can’t buyers use AI Client Assist in this Room?”

Answer: You need to allow comments in room. Toggle Enable comments in roomOn, then enable AI Client Assist in Room Settings → Permissions (Room owner only).

Q: “I want comments on, but I want fewer emails.”

Answer: Keep comments enabled, then change notification preferences for Comment on item in My Notifications (user-level) or Room Settings → Notifications (Room-level).

Pro-Tips

  • Disable comments only on Rooms that include highly sensitive content. Keep comments on for most Rooms so buyers ask questions in context, then control noise with notification settings.

  • If you roll out AI Client Assist to clients, keep comments enabled in those Rooms so buyers can use the chatbot and Ask Room owner flow.
