Feature Summary
Admins and Account Owners can turn My Library on or off for the whole account using the Everyone can upload and edit the My Library setting. My Library is the private content space each user has in the Content Library, and when the setting is off, no one in the account can open My Library, upload to it, or add content from it to a Room. Files that were already added to Rooms keep working for every Room participant, including clients, and nothing is deleted at any point. Turning the setting back on restores every folder and file exactly as it was.
Prerequisites
Plan: availability depends on your plan - see the Aligned pricing page.
Role: Admin or Owner. The Admin Center is limited to Admins and Owners - Managers and Users cannot open it. The setting itself applies to every role in the account, including Admins and Owners.
How to turn off My Library
To turn off My Library for your account, use the Content Management System section of the Admin Center.
Click your account name in the avatar dropdown at the top of Aligned.
Click Admin Center. The Admin Center opens in a new browser tab on the Settings tab.
Scroll to the Content Management System section.
Find the Everyone can upload and edit the My Library toggle.
Click the toggle to turn it off.
Read the Turn off My Library confirmation window.
Click Turn off to apply, or Cancel to keep My Library available.
The change applies immediately for everyone in the account.
How to turn My Library back on
To make My Library available again, turn the same setting back on in the Admin Center.

Click Admin Center. The Admin Center opens in a new browser tab on the Settings tab.
Scroll to the Content Management System section.
Find the Everyone can upload and edit the My Library toggle.

A confirmation message appears: "My Library is available for everyone in this account." No confirmation window appears when turning the setting on, and no migration runs. Every My Folder, file, label, and owner returns exactly as it was before the setting was turned off.
What changes when My Library is off
When My Library is off, My Library stays visible in the Library sidebar in a greyed-out, non-clickable state. Hovering it shows: "An admin turned off My Library for your account. Files you already added to rooms keep working there."
These actions are unavailable while the setting is off:
Opening My Library or any My Folder inside it
Creating a My Folder, or uploading a file to My Library
Selecting My Library as a source in Add from Library inside a Room
Selecting My Library as a destination when saving a Room upload to the Library
Selecting My Library as a destination in the Move to window
Finding My Library files through Library search
Company Library is not affected. Uploading, editing, searching, and adding Company Library content to Rooms continue to work exactly as before, based on folder access and the Everyone can upload and edit the Company Library setting.
What happens to files already in Rooms
Files added to Rooms from My Library before the setting was turned off stay in place and keep working. Every Room participant, including clients, can still view and download them, and all analytics on those files are preserved. Clients see no change of any kind.
My Library setting vs. Company Library setting
Both settings live in the same Content Management System section of the Admin Center Settings tab, and each one governs a different space. The two settings are independent - turning one off has no effect on the other.
| Everyone can upload and edit the My Library | Everyone can upload and edit the Company Library |
Controls | The private My Library space each user has | Whether Users and Managers can contribute to the shared Company Library |
Who it affects when off | Every role in the account, including Admins and Account Owners | Users and Managers only. Admins and Account Owners keep full access |
What stays available | Company Library, based on folder access | Viewing, searching, downloading, and adding Company Library files to Rooms |
Limitations
The setting applies to the whole account. Turning it off for a specific team, user group, or role is not supported.
Admins and Account Owners are not exempt. While the setting is off, no one can open My Library.
Admins cannot see, export, or move another user's My Library content at any time, and turning this setting off does not change that.
While the setting is off, no one can move content out of My Library into Company Library. Move personal content into Company Library before turning the setting off.
My Library content cannot be archived. Archive is available in Company Library only.
Troubleshooting & FAQ
Expected blocks
"An admin turned off My Library for your account. Files you already added to rooms keep working there."
What this means: An Admin in your account turned off the Everyone can upload and edit the My Library setting, so My Library cannot be opened by anyone in the account. Your files were not deleted.
How to fix it: Ask an Admin or Account Owner to turn the setting back on in the Admin Center, under Settings -> Content Management System. Every folder and file returns exactly as it was.
How to avoid it: Store content your team should be able to reach in Company Library instead, so it stays available regardless of this setting.

Pro Tips
Before turning the setting off, ask your team to move anything worth keeping into Company Library. Once the setting is off, no one can reach My Library content to move it - not even an Admin.
Turn the setting off temporarily to test the policy with your team. Nothing is deleted, so turning it back on returns everything with no cleanup and no data loss.
