Overview
The look of an Aligned Room is controlled in two places. The colors and the default banner are account-wide settings that an Admin sets once for every Room in the Admin Center, so individual sellers do not choose them per deal. The layout — which tabs exist, which sections sit inside them, and the order they appear in — is controlled inside each Room by whoever owns or collaborates on it. This article covers what you can change, where each control lives, and who can change it. Room colors are available on the Pro, Enterprise, and Partner plans.
Prerequisites
Plan: Layout changes are available on all plans. The workspace color theme requires Pro, Enterprise, or Partner. Free and Basic accounts see the setting and hit the upgrade prompt; Private accounts have no access.
Role: Room owners and internal Room collaborators change a Room's layout. Admin and Owner roles change account-wide colors and the default banner in the Admin Center.
Technical: Room colors are web only. There is no mobile theming in this release.

How to change the layout of one Room
Layout is the structure a buyer navigates: the tabs across the top and the sections stacked inside each tab. Change it inside the Room, in Edit mode. Layout changes need no Admin role and no Admin Center.
Open the Room.
Enter Edit mode.
Add, rename, reorder, hide, or delete tabs from the tab menu.
Add, reorder, hide, or delete sections using each section's options menu in its top-right corner.
Upload or replace the banner image at the top of the Room.

How to open the Admin Center
Room colors and the default banner are account-level settings, and account-level settings live in the Admin Center. The Admin Center is available on all plans, to the Admin and Owner roles only.
Click your avatar to open the dropdown.
Open the account-name item.
Click Admin Center.
The Admin Center opens in a new browser tab, with the product left open in the tab underneath. An Admin pill next to the logo marks the surface so you always know which one you are in, and a button moves you between personal Settings and the Admin Center in either direction. The Admin Center opens on the Settings tab, which is where account-level room settings live.
How Admins change the Room color theme
The color theme applies to every Room and template in the account at once, so buyers see consistent branding regardless of which seller built the Room. The theme is built from three colors: Primary, Secondary, and Background.
Open the Admin Center and stay on the Settings tab.
Find Room appearance.
On the Customize default room colors row, click Configure.
Pick a ready-made theme on the Themes tab, or set Background, Primary, and Secondary individually on the Custom tab.
Check the Preview panel, which updates as you choose.
Click Save changes.
Check "I'm aware this change applies across all rooms and templates in my account" and click Apply theme.
Aligned confirms with the message "Account theme updated."
What each color controls
Primary sets clickable and attention elements: primary buttons in the Welcome, Text, and Call to Action sections, the active tab indicator, and the active sidebar item.
Secondary sets status and progress elements: the Mutual Action Plan progress bar, completion checkmarks in Next Steps and the action plan, and the process overview map.
Background sets the main Room canvas behind every section. Text, hover states, dividers, shadows, and the scrollbar adapt automatically to the background you pick and cannot be selected directly.
Ready-made themes
Six themes set all three colors together: Aligned Default, Dusk, Coral, Marina, Velvet, and Ember. On the Custom tab you can choose from 8 backgrounds, 16 primary colors, and 16 secondary colors.
How to undo a theme change
Open Configure on the Customize default room colors row.
Go to the tab whose colors you want to undo — Themes or Custom.
Click Reset to Aligned default.
Click Save changes and confirm.
Reset to Aligned default only resets the tab you are currently viewing, and it does not switch tabs for you. To reset both, reset on one tab, save, then repeat on the other.
How Admins change the default Room banner
The default Room banner is a separate control from the color theme. Changing the theme does not change the banner, and changing the banner does not change the theme.
Open the Admin Center and stay on the Settings tab.
Find Room appearance → Default room banner.
Click Configure.
Click Preview to see the banner design.
Upload the image, or reposition the existing one.
Click Save.
Individual Rooms can still carry their own banner image after the default is set. Every Room uses the same banner structure, with a different image inside it.
Banner image size
Recommended upload: 954 by 218 pixels, in PNG or JPG format.
On screens 1430 pixels wide and up: the banner displays at 954 by 218 pixels.
On screens narrower than 1430 pixels: the banner displays at 816 by 218 pixels.
Keep the important elements of the image centered, and leave decorative or background elements in the outer 69 pixels on each side, because those edges are cropped on narrower screens.
What buyers see
Buyers see the themed Room with no indication that a theme was applied, and they have no access to any of these settings. A buyer already inside a Room when an Admin changes the theme keeps the previous colors until the next page load or refresh, and Aligned does not notify them. Buyers see only the tabs and sections you have made visible to them.
What cannot be changed
Per-Room colors: the color theme is set for the whole account. Individual Rooms cannot override it in this release.
Exact color values: the theme uses curated palettes only. There is no field for entering a hex code.
Text styling: body and heading text stay on Aligned's text scale. Text color adapts to the background you choose and is not directly selectable.
Platform screens: tables, analytics, the dashboard, and settings stay Aligned-branded. The theme applies to buyer-facing Rooms only.
Mobile theming: Room colors are web only in this release.
Troubleshooting & FAQ
Expected errors and blocks
"Only admins can access this page"
What this means: The Admin Center is limited to the Admin and Owner roles, so a User or Manager who clicks Admin Center sees this message. Opening an Admin Center URL directly redirects a non-admin to the main Aligned page with the same message.
How to fix it: Ask an Admin or the account Owner to make the change. Your own profile, notifications, and integrations live in personal Settings, which every user can open.
"Only admins can modify the default room colors."
What this means: Room colors are an account-wide setting. A non-admin who reaches the Customize default room colors row sees this message and the drawer does not open.
How to fix it: Ask an Admin or the account Owner to set the theme for the account.
"Set by your workspace theme." on the Call to Action color dropdown
What this means: On Pro and Enterprise accounts, the per-section Call to Action color is read from the workspace theme's Primary color, so the dropdown is visible but read-only. Free and Basic accounts, which do not have the workspace theme, keep the dropdown editable.
How to fix it: Change the workspace Primary color to change every Call to Action button in the account.
Upgrade prompt when opening the color settings
What this means: Room colors are available on the Pro, Enterprise, and Partner plans. Free and Basic accounts see the setting and the upgrade prompt; Private accounts have no access.
How to fix it: Contact your Aligned account team about Pro or Enterprise access, or change the layout and banner instead, which are available on all plans.

Set the theme and the default banner once, in the Admin Center, before your team builds Rooms. Consistent branding across every seller's Rooms is the point of an account-wide setting.
Keep the important part of a banner image within the centre, since the outer 69 pixels on each side are cropped on narrower screens.
Use layout rather than color to guide a buyer. Which tab comes first and which section sits at the top of it changes buyer behavior far more than the palette does.
