Add a Google Doc to a Room either by pasting the document link or by saving the link in the Content Library for reuse. Use the link method when you need the doc in one Room quickly. Use the Library method when you want one source of truth you can insert into multiple Rooms. Buyers can open the doc inside the Room as long as Google sharing settings allow access.

Prerequisites & Requirements

  • Plan: All plans

  • Permissions: Any user with access to add content to Room.

  • Technical Specs: Google Doc must allow viewer access via link or via invited emails (Google sharing settings)

How to add a Google Doc to a Room from a link

  1. Open the Room.

  2. Click Add section and select a section type (for example, Links & Examples).

  3. Click Add contentFrom link.

  4. Paste the Google Doc URL, then confirm.

  5. (Optional) Rename the item and add a short description

What the Buyer sees

  • The buyer sees the Google Doc as an item in the Room.

  • The buyer opens the doc in the Room if Google sharing allows access.

  • If sharing blocks access, the buyer sees a Google permission prompt (for example, “Request access”).

How to add a Google Doc to a Room from the Content Library

  1. For admin or user with permissions to upload content to the library:

    1. In the left sidebar, click Library.

    2. Click Upload.

    3. Select Link, then paste the Google Doc URL.

    4. Enter a clear title.

    5. (Optional) Add a thumbnail.

    6. Click Save.

  2. Then (Or user without permissions to add content to library)

    1. Open a Room.

    2. Click Add section.

    3. Click From Library.

    4. Select the saved Google Doc item.

What the Buyer sees

  • The buyer sees the Google Doc item wherever you place it in the Room.

  • If you update the content inside the Google Doc, the buyer sees the latest version because the Room references the same document link.

Troubleshooting & Error States

Q: “Request access” (Google permission screen).

Answer: In Google Docs, click Share and set Anyone with the link to Viewer, or grant access to the buyer’s invited email.

Q: The doc won’t load in the Room.

Answer: Replace the URL with a Google Docs document link (not a Drive folder link).

Q: External buyers can’t access the doc due to organization restrictions.

Answer: Share the doc to the specific buyer emails you invite to the Room, or use a doc stored in a Google workspace that allows external viewers.

Pro-Tips

  • Use the Content Library for any Google Doc you insert into multiple Rooms so you manage the link once.

After you add the doc, open it from the Room to confirm it loads before you invite buyers.
