The Glean Integration connects an Aligned account to Glean through the Model Context Protocol (MCP), allowing sellers to query their own deal rooms - and admins to query any room in the account - directly from Glean Assistant and Glean Agents. Once connected, asking Glean about a deal returns grounded answers pulled live from the Aligned room - including stakeholder engagement, MAP / Next Steps, content interactions, and last activity.
Prerequisites
Plan: Enterprise plan only.
Role: A Glean admin is required to add the connector. Any Aligned user can then connect and query.
Technical: An active Glean account with MCP host access. Adding the Aligned connector is done once by a Glean admin in the Glean Admin Console.
Setup and how to use
Adding the Aligned connector to Glean is done once by a Glean admin. After that, each user connects their own Aligned account the first time they query.
Setup info to use in Glean:
Name: Aligned
Transport type: Streaming HTTP
Authentication: OAuth
These values also appear in the Setup modal inside Aligned when you click Enable on the Glean card (Settings -> MCP).
Admin setup
Only Glean admins can add the Aligned connector. This is a one-time setup for the workspace.
Seller steps (to hand off to your Glean admin):
In Aligned, navigate to Settings -> MCP.
Locate the Glean card and click Enable to open the Setup modal.
Copy the Connector name and the Aligned MCP server URL from the modal.
Share the name, URL, and the admin instructions below with your Glean admin.
Once the connector is added, open Glean and start a new conversation - the first time you query Aligned, sign in to Aligned and approve to connect.
What your Glean admin needs to do:
In Glean, go to Admin Console -> Platform -> Tools and click Add -> Import tools from MCP server.
Set the connector name to Aligned and paste the MCP server URL (https://my.teamaligned.com/api/v1/mcp).
Set Transport type to Streaming HTTP.
Set Authentication to OAuth. Glean registers with Aligned automatically via Dynamic Client Registration - no Client ID or Secret needed.
Click Connect to server, review and enable Aligned's tools for Agents and/or Assistant, then click Save.
Approve the Aligned OAuth screen to complete the connection.
Note: DCR must be allowed in the workspace's Glean OAuth settings (Admin Console -> Settings -> Third-party access (OAuth)). If set to "Allow approved applications", the admin adds Aligned's redirect URI pattern to the Custom list.
User setup
After your Glean admin has added the Aligned connector, each user connects their own Aligned account:
Open Glean and start a new conversation.
Ask about a deal (for example, "What's happening on Acme?").
The first time, Glean opens the Aligned-hosted OAuth page - sign in to Aligned (if not already signed in) and click Approve.
Once approved, Glean returns answers pulled live from the Aligned rooms you have access to.
How to disconnect
Disconnect happens on the Glean side - there is no Disconnect button inside Aligned.
To remove Aligned for the whole workspace, a Glean admin opens Admin Console -> Platform -> Tools, locates Aligned, and removes it.
To revoke your own access, remove the Aligned authorization from your Glean account's connected apps.
After disconnecting, Glean no longer receives queries from Aligned.
Where the Glean Integration works
The Aligned Glean Integration works in Glean surfaces that support remote MCP tools - Glean Assistant and Glean Agents. The same Aligned MCP URL also works with other remote-MCP-compatible AI assistants.
What can you do with Aligned in Glean?
Once connected, ask Glean about any active deal and get grounded answers pulled live from your Aligned room. Common workflows include:
Pre-call deal prep: "Bring me up to speed on the Acme deal - I have a call in 15 minutes”
Personalized follow-up writing: "Draft a follow-up email for Globex referencing what they've engaged with this week”
Deal health & risk check: "Is the Acme deal at risk? What should I flag in tomorrow's pipeline review?”
Stakeholder engagement mapping: "Who are the most engaged stakeholders on Globex, and who's gone silent?”
MAP & Next Steps tracking: "What's overdue on the Acme MAP and who owns each item?”
Available Tools
In this release, the Glean Integration provides read-only analytics access to your active Aligned rooms. Glean can answer questions and surface insights across these areas:
Deal overview - a quick brief on any deal (engagement, top stakeholders, MAP status, and pending AI insights).
Engagement & people - who's been active and for how long, the stakeholder roster including buyer-side stakeholders not yet added as contacts, and a deep-dive on any one person.
Deal health & next steps - MAP completion status, overdue items and assignees, AI-generated opportunities and risk flags, and recent buyer comments.
Content - search for files, decks, or sections inside a room.
Cross-deal - a morning briefing of what needs your attention today across all your active deals.
Detailed tool list
Below are the specific tools Glean can call. You don't need to memorize these - Glean picks the right tool automatically based on your question.
Tool | Ask Glean | What you get |
Get Room Brief | "What's happening on Acme?" | Engagement totals, top engaged stakeholders, MAP status, and pending AI Insights, in one response. |
Get Room Engagement | "Who's been most active on Acme?" | Lifetime room totals plus every buyer-side stakeholder with their own session totals, sorted by most active. |
Get Stakeholder Map | "Who's visiting the Stripe deal that we haven't added?" | Stakeholder roster with roles plus uncovered stakeholders. |
Get Stakeholder Content Engagement | "Tell me about Sarah on the Stripe deal." | How one stakeholder engaged with the room: the sections and content they spent time on, plus their recent activity. |
Get Room Actions & Insights | "What should I do next on Acme?" | Opportunity, risk, and flag items with reasoning and suggested actions. |
Get MAP Status | "What's overdue on Acme?" | Stage-by-stage completion status and the next upcoming Next Step, with deep links to the relevant section. If a room has more than one MAP, Glean asks which one you mean. |
Get Recent Comments | "What did Acme say last week?" | A thread of the three most recent comments, oldest to newest, each with the author's full name and the section it was written under. |
Search Room Content | "Where's the security review deck on Stripe?" | Keyword-matched sections and resources with a snippet and deep link. |
Get Morning Briefing (cross-deal) | "Catch me up." | A unified list of deals needing attention today (activity, unread comments, overdue MAP), sorted by urgency. |
Important to know:
All access is bounded by you - as a seller, Glean only sees deals you own in Aligned. As an admin, Glean can access any room in the account, one room at a time.
Limitations
Per-room queries only: Each query returns data from a single room, including for admins.
No admin visibility: Aligned Admins and Owners cannot see which sellers have connected the Glean Integration or what they query in this release.
FAQ
Q: I get "This integration is available on the Enterprise plan only" - what does it mean?
The Glean Integration requires an active Aligned Enterprise plan. Sellers on Free, Basic, or Pro plans cannot enable the integration. Contact your Aligned account Owner about upgrading to Enterprise.
Q: Why does Glean say it can't find my deal?
The room name may not match what you queried, the room may be archived, or you may not have access to it in Aligned. Confirm the room is active in your account and try again with the exact room name. If it persists, contact Aligned support with the room name and the exact prompt you used.
Q: What kind of data does Glean get from Aligned?
Glean can read your Aligned room data, including room title, URL, description, engagement signals, stakeholders, MAP / Next Steps, content interactions, and last activity. Glean cannot write to Aligned, cannot delete data, and cannot see rooms you don't have access to.
Q: Can Glean see other sellers' deals in my account?
Access follows your own Aligned permissions. A seller sees only the deals they own, a manager can also query rooms belonging to their group, and an admin can query any room in the account. Glean never returns data you wouldn't already have access to in Aligned.
Q: Can admins query rooms they don't own?
Yes. An Aligned admin can ask Glean about any room in the account, not only rooms they own, running the same tools a seller runs on their own rooms. Admins query one room at a time.
Q: What happens if my Aligned account is downgraded or I'm removed?
The OAuth token tied to your account is revoked automatically. Your next query from Glean returns an authentication error. Reconnection requires an active Enterprise Aligned account.
Pro tips
Set up before your next call. Connect Aligned to Glean before a customer meeting so you can pull live deal context in seconds.
Use Glean to draft your follow-up. Ask Glean to draft a follow-up email referencing specific content the buyer engaged with this week.
